Maschinefabrik Reinhausen selected RXHK STATCOM Technology to deliver a power quality solution for the Drummond Coal mine

• The mine is fed by a 115kV supply fed from a 500kV system
• The ±30Mvar STATCOM supports the voltage within the mine during large drive starts and ensure voltage and power factor compliance with the Colombian grid code at the 500kV substation
• Contract award was in April ‘22
• Shipment of equipment from the RXHK factory was done in September ’22

The equipment was commissioned at site in September ‘23 Scope of work includes:

• Design, manufacture and FAT of valve and valve controls
• Specification of main parameters of other elements of the STATCOM systems including:
• Water cooling system
• Phase arm reactors
• Charging circuit (resistor + bypass breaker)
• MV switchgear
• Container/e-house
• Step-up transformer
